If you plan it, they will go...

If you build it, they will come. We had talked off and on about making a baseball focused trip. Michelle gets together with her college roommates each year, and one lives in Philadelphia. So, in 2015 we decided to combine our idea of a baseball focused trip with her get together in Philadelphia. We did the roommate visit over the MLB All Star Game break and saw baseball both before and after visiting with her friends. We were able to string together seeing baseball at some great stadiums.

We saw games in:

  • Boston’s Fenway Park

  • New York Yankee’s Stadium

  • New York Mets Citi Field

  • Baltimore Orioles Camden Yard

  • Washington National’s Park

Each park has provided me with unique memories that I get to enjoy each time I go to a baseball game or somebody asks me about the trip. The teams and parks have a unique place in the history of baseball and now stories are brought alive when I hear an announcer talk about that team or ball park.

What really made the trip a unique bucket list trip is the American History we experienced when not attending baseball.

  • In Boston there was seeing where Paul Revere lived and was part of the American Revolution

  • In New York there was the 9/11 Memorial and Museum

  • In Philadelphia we saw where the country was born and saw the Liberty Bell and the Declaration of Independence

  • In Washington DC there was all the different memorials, the U.S. Constitution, US Holocaust National Museum and Smithsonian Museums.

Experiencing the history of the US in such a short amount of time can have a huge impact on your perspective on life and decision making. The memories and experiences from this part of the trip make me a better person.

What started as a common baseball bucket list trip ended as a unique trip that has become something that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Until the next adventure….
